Class B Technician

This classification of employee shall be able to perform all types of telecommunications installation, maintenance and troubleshooting without direct supervision. A Class B technician must have a minimum of three years of general telecommunications installation and maintenance experience.

Technicians in this class must be able to perform all class C tasks plus the following:

  • Termination of all types of copper and fiber communication cables
  • Have ability to program and operate all types of test equipment, including cable test and certification equipment, WAN / LAN analyzers, and other electronic test equipment
  • Have the ability to test and provision telco circuits
  • Have the ability to layout job tasks for themselves as well as subordinate employees, have the ability to work independent as well as supervise up to four class B and or C employees. This includes managing work orders, bid documents, time sheets and all administrative paperwork required to successfully complete project scope, including updating as-built information where applicable
  • Have the ability to read and interpret bid documents, drawings, RFI”s and all other documents required to perform job
  • Have the ability to develop material lists by description and part number, interact with vendors to order and track required materials
  • Have ability to analyze and field engineer basic telecommunication circuits between existing cross connect fields

General Qualifications:

  • All employees should be able to occasionally lift and or manipulate up to 100 pounds, and be able to lift and or manipulate up to 60 pounds on a regular basis. They should also be able to stand, sit or stoop for extended periods of time as well as climb and or work from ladders, scaffolds, etc on a regular basis
  • Must have good manual dexterity to work with all types of tools
  • Must possess ability to follow directions and provide directions to subordinates as necessary
  • Must possess satisfactory communication skills both oral and written to communicate professionally with customers, management and coworkers
  • Must represent themselves as well as company in professional manner at all times, this includes maintaining proper dress code, refraining from foul or vulgar language and acting in any manner which could be considered disrespectful at all times
